Walker Methodist exists to champion the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health of seniors through health programs and residential and management services. Our values reflect the importance we place on respect for the individual, service through partnerships, and corporate and individual responsibility.
The story of Walker Methodist began in 1945 when the Harriet Walker Maternity Hospital merged with the Methodist Home to become the Walker Methodist Home. The Walker Methodist Home served as a nursing home for the elderly and stood where Walker Methodist Health Center is today. Since 1945, Walker Methodist has grown into a non-profit organization, serving seniors at locations throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Today, in addition to skilled nursing care, Walker provides seniors independent housing with services, assisted living, rehabilitation, memory care for those with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, an adult day program, transitional care, and dental care. Combined with our social services, therapeutic recreation, and spiritual care support, Walker enhances the health, mind, and spirit of the individual.
