Life experiences lead to the wisdom we so highly regard in our senior citizens. Since 1945, Walker Methodist has gathered the wisdom of experience - found within every one of our communities. We value the spirit and contributions
of those we care for and advocate sharing their wisdom now, and with future generations.
At Walker Methodist, we strive to help people live full and enriching lives. We work with those we serve to provide a respectful and imaginative environment where age is not a limiting factor. Where we focus on what you can do, rather than what you can’t.
Walker Methodist’s roots date back to 1876, when Harriet Walker and a group of women established the Bethany Home for unwed mothers. Into the 20th century, the home broadened its services, and in the 1930’s evolved into the Harriet Walker Maternity Hospital.
By 1945, the community’s need for a maternity hospital was replaced by growing demand for homes for older adults. Through a merger, the Walker Methodist Home was created to serve the needs of seniors. Since then, Walker Methodist has greatly expanded the continuum of care and grown into a leading provider of life-enhancing and rehabilitative services in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
